Faith Formation for adults

St. Leo offers a range of faith formation opportunities for adults.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process through which adults who are not Catholic may inquire about the Catholic faith and, if desired, Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.  RCIA is a process that invites participants to grow closer to God and the Catholic community, whether or not the participant ultimately decides to receive the sacraments of becoming Catholic.

Many people visit St. Leo, and find the celebration of liturgy and the service to our community engaging and compelling, and so they inquire about joining the Church.  Many long-time parishioners find meaning and joy at St. Leo Parish and invite others to join us, no matter if or where they’ve been to church before.

LENTEN Faith Sharing Groups

We grow in faith simply by gathering with companions to share our prayers, our questions, and our reflections on the Scriptures.  Small Christian communities meet in Lent in many neighborhoods and are facilitated by parishioners.  Some groups continue year-round and are open to new members.  Registrations for groups happens at all masses beginning three weeks before Ash Wednesday.

Non-Violent Communication

The Nonviolent Communication Practice Group meets after the 10:30 Mass on the 3rd Sunday of the month to practice the communication based on Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. They would be glad to speak to anyone interested in Nonviolent Communication. Keep your eye out in the bulletin for opportunities to learn and practice non-violent communication.

Men’s Spirituality

Anam Cara-Men’s Spirituality Group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM in the rectory library for prayer, faith sharing and a discussion of material they have read.  For more information please contact Mark Bubenik at 253 851 7051 or  mbubenik1@comcast.net.

Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life

The Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) is a nine-month program based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola that meets monthly at St. Leo’s.  With the assistance of spiritual directors from Roman Catholic and other Christian traditions, this “retreat”   offers a gift of spiritual accompaniment, within a context of consistent personal prayer and a prayerful community.  This retreat is best suited for those who have established a discipline of regular personal prayer, have experience of sharing their spiritual journey with one another, and who are called and committed to deepening personal faith and nurturing the seeds of a spirituality that transforms human society.
