Mission and Vision Statement

St. Leo is a Catholic Christian Community of Faith, a raggedy band of believers in Jesus of Nazareth, and in his Gospel. Jesus is central and decisive to our daily living, and his Gospel is the measure and guide of our individual and communal lives.

Today we see Saint Leo as...

  • A Eucharistic community, which communally celebrates the mystery of God our Creator's call and the presence of Jesus in our midst; and which shares the Lord's Supper as the very heart and center of the Saint Leo Community.
  • A Servant community, bound together at the deepest level by a communal mission to be a life-giving sign in creation, an instrument of God's reign of Justice, Love and Peace for the people of our world, of Tacoma and particularly of our Hilltop neighborhood.
  • A Pastoral community, reaching out to each other, in which everyone has a place, celebrating each person's uniqueness, especially embracing the poor, wounded and rejected, while acknowledging our own poverty, woundedness and experience of rejection.
  • A Spirit-filled community, constantly being created, nurturing in children and adults alike a deepening understanding and love of what it means to be Eucharistic, Servant and Pastoral.
